Coronavirus (COVID-19) has presented a situation that none of us have ever experienced before, and certainly one that we could never have prepared for.
The reality is, the future of our organisation is under threat. Guide Dogs Tasmania is facing unprecedented financial pressure, at a time when our clients need us most. We have had to cancel all face-to-face fundraising events and activities and have suspended the iconic Collection Dog Program in over 2,000 shops and businesses around the State.
What that means for us is a dramatic loss in funds that help us ensure Tasmanians with disability have the freedom, independence and community connection that many of us, until now, have taken for granted.
The deeply challenging uncertainty and lack of control we are all experiencing at the moment can be an everyday reality for people with blindness and low vision. So our work at Guide Dogs Tasmania is continuing – as it must – to ensure the 29 pups and dogs in our training programs continue to grow, learn, develop and be taught the skills that will ensure they can help transform the lives of Tasmanians with disability and illness.
However, we urgently need to raise $150,000 to keep the program operating so we can continue to raise and train these incredible dogs right here in Tasmania, for Tasmanians.
If you can donate – thank you so much. Whatever amount you can give will help ensure we can continue to provide our life-changing services to our community’s most vulnerable in these, the most challenging of times.
We are deeply committed to making your gift count, and to keeping you informed on the impact of your generosity.
If you have difficulty accessing this page to make an online donation, our friendly Donor Care staff are here to help! Please call Karen on 0407 491 199 to make a donation by telephone.

As a welfare recipient on Newstart, I'm able to make this donation because of the extra money the govt is giving at the moment. I hope others rally to your cause. Best wishes.
